The Central Tongu District Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport East and International Needs, is undertaking a prostate cancer and non-communicable disease awareness campaign across the district. Dubbed “Men4Health,” the initiative seeks to improve public understanding of prostate cancer, promote early detection and encourage men to take their health seriously. Prostate cancer remains an important men’s health concern, but fear, misinformation and reluctance to undergo medical examinations often prevent some men from seeking professional assistance early. Through the campaign, health professionals will provide reliable information about the disease, address common misconceptions and educate residents on the importance of regular medical check-ups. Men will also be encouraged not to wait until they experience severe symptoms before visiting a recognised health facility. Anyone experiencing persistent difficulty urinating, frequent urination—particularly at night—blood in the urine or semen, or unexplained pain should seek professional medical attention. The campaign further encourages families and communities to support open conversations about men’s health. Wives, partners, relatives and community leaders can play an important role in encouraging men to overcome fear and prioritise appropriate medical care. Residents of Central Tongu are therefore encouraged to support the Men4Health campaign and participate in the prostate cancer and non-communicable disease screening activities when they are organised in their communities. Early attention can make a difference. Men are encouraged to speak with qualified health professionals for individual medical advice and screening recommendations.
